The course is designed to enable students to gain practical knowledge and experience on EU decision making processes. Through a role play, students will have to endorse the role of EU decision-makers and debate and discuss to find a compromise on a real case.
- Identify The main EU decision-making institutions
- Use negociation & communications skills in a multicultural environment
- Practice negociation skills in a multicultural environment
- Analyze the phases behind any decisions taken at EU lever
- Experiment Political debate and paths to compromise
Before starting the simulation, students will first be given sufficient background on EU decision making process (main institutions, political groups in the European Parliament etc) and on the case debated for the Role Play (context, current state of discussion in the institutions, etc).
They will also have the opportunity to visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg to better understand the way decisions are debatted and voted.
2 full days will enable students to step into the shoes of decision-makers reproducing therefore as real as possible decision making processes
Basic Knowledge in EU affairs is preferred but not essential
Interest in Politics & EU affairs are crucial.
