Descriptif

This course aims to introduce students to equity and bond markets. After a brief overview of the different financing methods available to growing companies, the course describes the organization of financial markets and the main participants involved. Key concepts such as the law of one price and market efficiency are discussed. The course then provides a more detailed explanation of how fixed-income (bonds and treasury bills) and stock markets operate. The content is primarily descriptive rather than technical. The course introduces basic financial math tools (discounting, compounding, loan amortization schedules, bond pricing).

This course does not require prior completion of another course, although a basic knowledge of Finance is essential.
